CLUB HISTORY

The Melbourne Central Netball Club emerged in 2000 as part of Victoria’s State League, playing its first season in 2001 and enjoying considerable growth and success, both on and off the court, in the ensuing years.

In 2008 the club began a partnership with Monash University, and for the next 10 years it was known as Monash University Netball Club.

A partnership in 2014 with regional feeder association Gippsland Storm saw Monash adopt the “Storm” moniker.

In 2018 the club joined forces with AFL powerhouse Hawthorn Football Club, with the football club becoming our naming sponsor. The Hawks Netball Club was born.

In 2023 Hawks Netball was successful in obtaining a new VNL licence for the 2024-2028 seasons, under a new VNL structure that incorporates a Championship and 23 & Under division.
